Four decades behind the lens. Six years of sharing the journey.
Welcome
“Photography, for me, is not about gear or trends — it’s about presence. It’s about standing still in a rushing world and saying: this moment matters.”
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
With over 40 years of capturing light, shadow, and soul — from the cobbled streets of Nantes to the misty peaks of the Pyrenees — this blog is my open journal. Here, you’ll find black and white film archives, vibrant digital travelogues, personal essays, and quiet reflections on why we press the shutter at all.
Every image is edited by my hand. Every word, chosen with care. No algorithms. No agencies. Just decades of seeing — and sharing.
Featured Projects
- The UK Chronicles
Light, minimalism, and preparation.
Shot entirely on the Fujifilm X100F during a recent solo journey through Britain — a deliberate exercise in traveling light, seeing deeply, and preparing for the sensory overload of China. - The Film Archives
Memory in monochrome.
A vault unlocked: black and white film photographs from Nantes, Clisson, and beyond — captured long before this blog existed. Grain, patience, and timeless moments. - Photography Philosophy
Why do we do this?
Not a tutorial. Not a gear guide. A quiet exploration of purpose — the “why” behind the viewfinder. For those who photograph not to post, but to feel. - The Orchestra Visit to China
Culture, chaos, and concert halls.
A visual symphony from the road with the orchestra — temples, trains, backstage glances, and the electric silence before the first note.

Abbaye de Maillezais Vendée
The writer reminisces about Yorkshire’s historic abbeys, destroyed due to Henry VIII’s divorce dispute. Despite mentioning the famous sites, the focus shifts to Maillezais Abbey in Vendée. The story humorously recounts a scenic but mistakenly chosen route to the abbey. The article hints at future content featuring photography equipment used during the visit. Read more

Clisson in colour, and close up…
As you might know from reading the rest of this blog, I love using my Canon 6D Mark II with vintage glass. This Helios M44-2 is a bokeh beast for my inner bokeh whore… I love depth of field and this lens allows me to really express myself. Not only do I get the bokeh… Read more

Clisson in Black and White.
Clisson, a quaint French town, transforms into a haven for Heavy Metal fans during the annual Hellfest. The author reminisces about visiting the weekly market, lamenting the inability to frequent it due to work. They spent two hours in Clisson before an impromptu picnic in Nantes. The photos showcase their exploration with different camera lenses. Read more

My Wife…
I don’t usually think of myself as a portrait photographer, but I do take photos of my wife and children for family albums. I have a Helios M44-2 58mm which is a dedicated portrait lens and found a willing victim… I say victim but she did say “yes” all that time ago. She usually hates… Read more

Modern architecture on the Île de Nantes
I remember when the words, “modern,” and “architecture,” when used together in the same sentence would conjure up images of post-war concrete brutalism. Think carparks from thw 1960’s etc. Thankfully, this is no longer the case! Or at least I hope not. So nearly 60 years later, yes, that does give you a bit of… Read more

Down by the waterfront Part 2
Right, where was I? Ah yes, down by the waterfront, the front being the Hangar à Bananes and the water being the Loire. So we’ve done the Grue Titan, had a quick look at the rings, and even looked at the Cantine where Kate and I had lunch. Whilst having lunch I noticed a gentleman… Read more
About the Photographer
I am not an influencer. I am not a brand.
I am a photographer — stubborn, analogue at heart, digital when needed, and fiercely independent. I’ve been developing my own film since the 1980s. I built this blog in 2019, not for followers, but for focus.
I do not outsource my editing. I do not chase trends. I shoot what moves me — and I hope, sometimes, it moves you too.
“Commercial editing offers and unsolicited partnerships will not be published or replied to. This space is sacred — for art, not advertising.”
